Corey F. Wood

Attorney

Corey’s practice focuses on assisting families in settling their divorce, child custody, and elder law matters in the least adversarial way possible.  Corey believes that families achieve the best outcomes when served in an atmosphere that emphasizes civility and respect.  Her work includes representing clients in Collaborative Divorce, mediation, and settlement negotiations.

Corey helps clients protect their loved ones with careful estate planning, guardianship proceedings, and probate administration.  Whether through the preparation of a will, revocable living trust, or durable power of attorney, Corey supports clients in identifying their goals and planning for an uncertain future.  Corey’s legal practice has centered on assisting clients through some of the most challenging times in their lives.

Corey is a believer in the pursuit of life-long learning and has completed hours of training related to navigating complex family conflicts.  She completed Introductory and Advanced Training in Collaborative Divorce and received a Certificate in Mediation from Champlain College. She is a presenter on Collaborative Divorce at the Vermont Bar Association’s Mid-Year and Annual Meetings and regularly presents Divorce Options as part of an interdisciplinary team of professionals.  She is an active member of Collaborative Practice Vermont, the International Association of Collaborative Professionals, and My Collaborative Team.

Corey graduated in 2006 from the University of Washington School of Law, where she received the Charles Z. Smith Public Interest Student of the Year award.  Corey began her law practice in Washington State, representing parents and youth in juvenile court, and later worked as an Ombudsman with the Washington State Office of the Family and Children’s Ombudsman.   In 2013, Corey was thrilled to have the opportunity to return to her home state of Vermont; she practiced at Mickenberg, Dunn, Lachs & Smith, PLC and served as Hearing Officer at Woodside Juvenile Rehabilitation Center.   She joined Bergeron, Paradis & Fitzpatrick, LLP in 2017, and currently resides in Essex Junction with her husband and two sons.
